Information
for applying to be 2010 ICTEV Victorian Teacher of the Year - Applications to be lodged by 30th November 2009
The
ICTEV is seeking nominations for the ICTEV Teacher of the Year Award
2010 from Victorian classroom educators who have made an outstanding
contribution, using computer technology, to the educational advancement
of their student and have had a significant positive effect on their
colleagues, both at school level and within professional associations.
The person may be nominated, or may nominate him / herself. If the teacher is nominated by their school, the school is eligible for $1,000 of ICTEV professional development. Applicants must
be either an individual member of ICTEV or a staff member of an ICTEV member
school or learning institution. The successful nominee will be come ICTEVs entrant for the ACCE 2010 National
Teacher Award, as well as being sponsored to next year's national conference
where they will receive recongition as Victoria's ICT Teacher of the Year.
Critieria for selection
The selection committee will consider two main areas:

Work within the nominee's institution;
- Work within outside groups.
Recognition within own institution
Is the applicant respected as a leader and innvoator in their own institution?

Work with students;
- Work with colleagues;
- Work with parents.
Recognition outside own institution
Is the applicant perceived as a leader and innovator by outside indivudals,
groups or organisations?

Work with teachers in other institutions;
- Participant in professional organisations;
- Publications;
- Participation in conferences and other professional developement activities.
The Victorian 2010 Teacher of the Year will receive:
- An award
- A letter to employer
- Individual membership to the ICTEV for one year
- State conference registration
- Recognition on the ICTEV website
- Nomination as Victoria's nominee for the Australian 2010 Teacher of the Year
In return the Victorian 2010 Teacher of the Year will be required to:
- Attend and address an ICTEV State Council meeting
- Write at least one article relating to their work for Interface and one for the ICT in Education journal
- Present a session at the ICTEV state conference
Application Procedures
Candidates should submit an application which contains a brief biography and organises evidence under the criteria.
Up to four pages of information may be submitted. Please include details
such as:
Applicant's - name, institution, institution address, telephone and fax,
email address and signature.
Nominee's - name, institution, email address and signature
References from the Principal and letters of support from colleagues
Application must address the criteria.
Note: The successful application may not necessarily fulfill all criteria.

Information for applying to be the ICTEV 2010 Victorian Outstanding Leader of the Year
Typically the nominee will be a leader / mentor / advisor to a school or broader educational community group and generally their major role is not as a classroom teacher. The award recognises significant advocacy, support and promotion of the use of ICT in education. Candidates will have had a distinguished career and proven inspirational achievement in leading ICT in the education community.
Criteria for selection
The award recognises leaders who:
- Achieve excellence in ICT in education innovation and development and works tirelessly to improve the quality of education;
- Assist in the building of partnerships to advance the use of ICT in education (e.g. school and community partnerships, school and industry partnerships);
- Plan, develop and implement programs to advance ICT in education;
- Provide advocacy for ICT in education to the extent that their work is used as a model for others;
- Serve as a catalyst for policy change and development in ICT in education;
- Contribute to ICTEV work and actively participate in the professional communities of this organisation;
- Nurture and mentor individuals, groups and / or associations to enhance the use of ICT in education;
- Conduct research and / or write about ICT in education;
- Inspire others to strive for excellence.
(Candidates do not necessarily have to meet every criteria).
Recipients of the award will:
- Be known as the ICTEV 2010 Outstanding Leader in the use of ICT in Education for the Year;
- Receive an award;
- Be recognised on the ICTEV website;
- Be nominated as the ICTEV candidate for the ACCE 2010 (national) leadership award.
Eligibility
To be eligible for nomination as the Victorian 2010 ICT Leader of the Year, candidates:
- Must be current members of the ICTEV either through individual or school based membership arrangements.
Application procedures
Candidates should submit an application which contains a brief biography and organise evidence under three headings:
1. Advocacy, support and promotion of the use of ICT in education;
2. Mentoring and leadership of groups and individuals;
3. Setting directions and exhibiting leadership.
Each submission will be restricted to six pages only (or equivalent) of printable information which can be in point / bullet form. A further four pages of supporting documentation on any media, can be included. Note: A successful application may not necessarily fulfill all criteria.
